Analyses and notes
Write up an investigation with references to its entities, on its own page or beside the graph.
An analysis is a written account of an investigation: what you looked at, what you found, what it means. It lives in the investigation, next to the sketches, and every member who can read the investigation can read it.
Writing an analysis
On the investigation page, + New analysis creates one and opens it on its own page. Click the title to rename it.
The editor is a rich text editor with a toolbar: bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, three heading levels, bullet and numbered lists, quotes, code blocks, a divider, links, and undo and redo.
Your work saves itself a second after you stop typing. The header says Saving… and then Saved with the time. Cmd/Ctrl+S saves at once.
Editors and above can write. Deleting an analysis takes an admin or the owner.
Mentioning entities
Type @ and start typing a name. A list of the entities of the
investigation’s sketches opens, matched by a piece of their label. Pick
one with the arrows and Enter (or Tab), or a click. It becomes a chip in
the text.
Click a chip to open its sketch with that entity in focus. The @ button in the toolbar starts a mention too.
A mention points to the entity itself. Moving the investigation to another install as one export file keeps every mention pointing to the right entity.
Notes beside the graph
In a sketch, Notes in the header (or Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+L) opens the investigation’s analyses in the side panel, so you can write while you look at the graph.
- The select at the top switches between the analyses, New starts another, and the arrow opens the current one on its own page.
- Typing
@there offers the entities of this sketch. Clicking a chip selects the entity on the canvas, or opens its sketch when it lives in another one. - It saves itself like the full page.
For a short note about one entity, use the Notes box in that entity’s panel instead (see Entities ).
